HAM-D – Hamilton Depression Rating Scale

Description

The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D) is a 21-item, clinician-administered scale that assesses symptoms of depression.

Special Instructions

Because it is a clinician-administered measure, when assigned it will not appear in the patient's MYIO account. Instead, it will be queued up for you to fill out when you start your next note for that patient. Alternatively, you could add the measure to your note directly by using “Add a Measure” function.

Scores Produced

HAM-D Total Score (0-50)

Note that only items 1-17 are included in the score.

Interpretation

  • 0-7 = Normal
  • 8-13 = Mild Depression
  • 14-18 = Moderate Depression
  • 19-22 = Severe Depression
  • >=23 = Very Severe Depression
